Robert "Bob" E. Buerger, 66, of Superior, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.

Robert "Bob" E. Buerger, 66, of Superior, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.

He was born Aug. 19, 1945 in Superior, son of Eric and Marion (Bergren) Buerger.

Robert served his country with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam.

He retired in 2007 from St. Luke's Hospital, where he worked many years as a security officer.

Bob enjoyed various sports activities and dog training. He raised, trained and showed Doberman Pinscher dogs.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife, Mavis (Hanson) Buerger.

Survivors include his brother, Mike Buerger, New Brighton, Minn.; special friends, Mac Fenner, Duluth, and Colleen Ennis, Superior; and his canine buddy, "Curly".

VISITATION: 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 until the 2 p.m. service, in the Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Pastor Jason Rhoads officiating. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Animal Allies.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, with Military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435.

Pallbearers will be Mac Fenner, Jesse Johansen, David Salinas, John Wicklein, Patrick Hemmingsen, and Korri Ksicinski.
