VIOLA "VI" DEMARIS

Viola "Vi" DeMaris, 98, longtime resident of Duluth joined her loving husband Lawrence on Thursday, March 29, 2012.

Viola "Vi" DeMaris, 98, longtime resident of Duluth joined her loving husband Lawrence on Thursday, March 29, 2012.

She was born Aug. 24, 1913 in Askov, Minn., to Nathaniel and Mary Degerman. On June 10, 1933 Vi married Lawrence D. DeMaris in Duluth.

Vi was a member of the Ladies Aide, Flower Club, Sewing Club, Couples Club, Morgan Park Seniors and Gary Seniors Club. She loved gardening, particularly her flowers, playing a variety of games especially cribbage, bingo and doing the daily crossword puzzle. Vi was an avid traveler even into her later years.

Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1989; her parents; two brothers and two sisters; her daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Pederson) DeMaris.

She is survived by her son, Keith, of Shevlin, Minn. and daughter, Yvonne (Larry) Puhl, of Cloquet; four grandchildren, Kari (Dan) Bergsven, Kurt (Robin) DeMaris, Jay (Heidi) Puhl and Amy (Dan) Vleck; seven great-grandchildren, Lance, Elizabeth (John), Erik, Kathryn, Kyra, Cody and Jack; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

If people wish, memorials are preferred to the Morgan Park Seniors Club or the Tenants Association of Heritage Apartments.

SERVICES: Gathering of family and friends from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Monday, April 2 at Fond du Lac Community Church, 521 - 131st Ave. W.
