Vera Eugenia Suhonen, 87, of Wright, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Cardinal Courts in Cromwell.
She was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Cloquet, to Carl and Germina Bogenholm. Vera grew up in Wright and graduated from Cromwell High School in 1943. After high school she moved to Chicago and worked at Zenith Radio for one year. She moved back to Duluth and worked as a telephone operator until she married Niilo Suhonen on Jan. 4, 1949. They made their home in Wright and together raised nine children.
Vera was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Cromwell Wright Evangelical Free Church. Prayer and Bible studies were important to Vera.
She enjoyed gardening, playing piano and singing, farming, visiting with friends, and doing puzzles. She especially enjoyed playing games and laughing with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Niilo; and two brothers, Ralph and Albert Bogenholm.
Vera was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her nine children, Doug (Bonnie) of Wright, Joyce Suhonen of Houston, Mary (Sherman) Erickson of Blaine, Minn., Peggy (Larry) Dahl of Cloquet, Roger (Kim) of Wright, Sharon (Jim) Lisson of Cloquet, Robert (Ulla) of Vienna, Austria, Cindy (John) Woodward of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Jeff (Theresa) of Wright; one sister, Elna Porter of Bentonville, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet and 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Sunday, April 1, in Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell.
