Roy Norman Beck, 84 of Cromwell died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center.

Roy Norman Beck, 84 of Cromwell died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

He was born April 28, 1927 in Superior, Wis., to Andrew and Alma Beck.

The family moved to Cromwell in 1943 and Roy graduated from Cromwell High School. Roy was a Navy veteran serving during World War II. On Dec. 18, 1954 he married Joanne Bergstrom in Cloquet. They made their home in Cromwell. Roy worked as an electrician at International Multi Food Grain Elevator in Duluth for more than 30 years, retiring in 1992. During the 1960's he worked as a TV repairman in Cromwell and also farmed with Julius. He enjoyed hunting, raising Newfoundland puppies, attending auctions, playing bingo, and spending time with his family.

Roy was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff and Sherman; three brothers, Sulo, Julius, and Arvo Beck; and three sisters, Doris Kahara, Hilja Paananen, and Hulda Huhta.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne; four daughters, Judy (Arne) Isaacson of Moose Lake, Darla (Rod) Houck of Wright, Nina (Jon) Ford and Sonia Beck-Johnson both of Superior, Wis.; three sons, Roy (Brenda) Beck of Wright, Andrew and Daniel Beck both of Cromwell; daughters-in-law, HyeCha Beck and Cindy Beck both of Cloquet; brother, Robert (Lorraine) Beck of Cromwell; sister, June (Norman) Hill of Cromwell; brother-in-law, Unto Kahara of Cromwell; 11 grandchildren, Cory, Megan, Ryan, Amy, Sherry, Sunny, Autumn, Nick, Dyana, Jennifer, and Terry; six great grandchildren, Riley, Aiden, Taylar, Jorge "Robert", Isabelle and Keshaun, with one more expected in June.

VISITATION: 12 Noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Burial will be at Eagle Lake Cemetery in the spring.
