MIRIAM “SUSIE” E. SUNDSTROM
Miriam “Susie” E. Sundstrom, 85, of Duluth, died March 2, 2012, in Plainview Estates in Scanlon, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Virginia, Minn., daughter of Henning and Ellen Anderson. She moved to Duluth shortly after high school graduation where she met and married Earl Sundstrom on Nov. 9, 1946.
Miriam had worked for short periods at Northwestern Bell, JC Penny, and Lowell School; however, most of her years were devoted to staying home with her children and spending time with family.
She enjoyed summers at her cabin on East Bass Lake in Cotton, Minn. She was an avid artist and was very proud of her “1st place” ribbon she received for one of her paintings. Some of her other interests included bowling on the senior league at Country Lanes, getting together with her “birthday club” friends, reading books, and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Betty; a sister; brothers Gordon, Bob, Emil and Arne; and grandson Jesse.
Miriam is survived by her daughters, Linda (Greg) Aune and Judy Sundstrom (Dennis); sons Jim (Pat) and David (Nancy); sister Lois Sloan of Alabama; grandchildren Pam, Julianne, Derek, Sarah, Jamie, Matt, Joshua, and Zachary; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Plainview Estates for the excellent care and concern for Miriam.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in Rock Hill Community Church, 2401 W. Fifth St., Duluth.
Services entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minnesota, (218) 624-5200.
