Garett Steven Plotnik, 39 of Virginia died tragically, Feb.

Garett Steven Plotnik, 39 of Virginia died tragically, Feb. 23, 2012.

He was born Feb. 12, 1973 in Virginia, the son of Steven and Mary Lee (Mestnick) Plotnik and was a lifelong resident of Virginia.

Garett married Ronda Kay Harstad on April 25, 2003 in Duluth. He was employed by United States Steel as a Concentrator Operations Coordinator. Garett was a member of the Zim Skeet Club, Zim Sportsman's Club, the Northern Club, the West Eveleth Civic League, and was president of the Wuori Buck Ranch. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his son.

He was preceded in death by his father Steven Plotnik; father-in-law Bert Harstad; uncle Bernard Katz; paternal grandparents Edward and Stella Plotnik, and maternal grandparents Theodore and Margaret Mestnick.

Garett is survived by his son Steven Berton Plotnik; his wife Ronda Plotnik; mother Mary Lee (Pete) Bertolas; sister Lainie (Paul Brunfelt) Plotnik; mother-in-law Connie Harstad; brothers and sisters-in-law Monty (Jeanie) Harstad, Kari (Leslie) Black, Lane (Dee Dee) Harstad, Jodee (Drew) High; nieces and nephews Jessica, Timothy, David, Daniel, Derek, Dustin, Jake, Jon, Sam, Kaydee, Kellen, Hannah, Mollie, Mackenzie, Monterey, Aiden, and Hudson; step-brothers and sisters Wendee (Charlie Larsen) Tomonovich, Derek (Janet) Bertolas, Brenley (Craig) Nelson, Brittany (Jerime) Lindseth, Alexandra (Chris) Bertz, and Morgan Bertolas; aunts and uncles Gerri (John) Gruden, Michael (Rozanne) Plotnik, Patti Katz, Margaret (Ron) Johnson, Joanne (Bruce) Bjerke, Gail Mestnick; many other relatives and friends.

GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 from until the 4:30 p.m. Celebration of Life Service in the North Room of the Miners Memorial Building in Virginia. Reverend Father John O'Donnell will officiate. Spring Inurnment will be at the Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Cory Bird, Paul Maki, Keith Hendrickson, Bob Henderson, Paul Pollock, Cory Santelli, Russty Dahl, Steven Bratulich, Mike Anasi, Jeffrey Plotnik, and Paul Brunfelt.
