DAVID MITCHELL SILL

David Mitchell Sill, 48 of Minneapolis, formerly of Duluth, and Denver, Colo., passed away Feb. 1, 2012, in his home following an 11-month hard fought battle with cancer.

David Mitchell Sill, 48 of Minneapolis, formerly of Duluth, and Denver, Colo., passed away on Feb. 1st, 2012 at home following an 11-month hard fought battle with cancer.

David who was a loving husband, father, son, brother, "the favorite uncle," and a friend to everyone he met was born on Nov. 27, 1963 in Duluth.

David was the youngest of Mitchell and Elva Sill's five children. David met his wife Breanne Sill (Massee) in Duluth. Following their move to a loft he loved in Minneapolis' Mill City neighborhood David and Breanne married and welcomed their beautiful baby girl Layla Marie Sill on April 12, 2011. With the strength and support from Breanne, Layla and all of David's family and friends, he continued to fight a very rare Ewing Sarcoma till the very moment of his death. After graduating from Winchendon High School in MA, he moved to Colorado where he lived for 16- years. It was there that he attended Metropolitan State College, graduating with a BA in Behavioral Science.

David worked in real estate throughout Colorado until moving back to Duluth where he continued that work. He had a great talent and love for remodeling properties, was a talented artist, an expert downhill skier, an avid mountain biker, a lover of travel and loved two Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs during his lifetime.

David is survived by his wife, Breanne and their daughter Layla; parents, Mitchell and Elva Sill of Duluth, and Naples, Fla.; sister, Katherine Sill and husband Jeff Brown of Minneapolis; sister, Pamela Curley and husband Jim of Santa Rosa, Calif.; brother, Steven and wife Lisa Sill of Minnetonka, Minn.; and brother, Andrew and wife Catherine Sill of Duluth. He also is survived by eight nieces and nephews.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 in The Cathedral Church of St. Mark, 519 Oak Grove St. Minneapolis, MN 55403. Visitation directly to follow at the church. Memorials are preferred to: The David M. Sill Memorial Fund to benefit Change Inc. a non-profit that helps other artists struggling with illnesses and other emergencies.

Dear Sills Family, We are so saddened by the news of David's passing. Losing a husband, daddy, child, brother, uncle and cousin is certainly a heartbreaking liife challenge and finding words of true comfort are difficult to find. Please know we are thinking of you.
