Richard Carl Jokimaki, 84, of Kettle River, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in Augustana Care Center in Moose Lake.
He was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Kettle River, to John and Ida (Luusua) Jokimaki. He was a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War serving in Japan and Korea. After his discharge from the Army, Richard returned to Kettle River where he farmed until 1956. He then worked various jobs including working on the ore boats for two years before going to work in the logging industry in Kettle River and Grand Marais. In his later years, Richard lived in Cromwell.
Richard enjoyed music and playing the guitar.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Arvid, Alfred, Ernie, George, Rueben, Nestor, and Walter; and three sisters, Selma Bakken, Olga Tuomi, and Helen Prince.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Florence (Dick) Padrnos of Forest Lake, and Elsie “Lisa” Jokimaki of Sun City, Ariz.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 6, in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Military Honors will be accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard.
A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
