Barbara A. Porter, 72, of Superior, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan.
Barbara A. Porter, 72, of Superior, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.
She was born Sept. 7, 1939 in Superior, daughter of Frank and Mary (Bednarcik) Wachtler.
Barbara was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Superior/Douglas County Senior Center and the Birthday Club.
Some of her interests included bowling, gardening (she was a master gardener) and volunteering with the Girl Scouts.
For many years she worked in food services within the Superior School District.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Austin W. Porter in 2002; and brothers, Tom and Ron Wachtler.
Survivors include her son, Randall (Karen) Porter, North Oakes, Minn.; daughters, MaryJo (Tim) Paske, Superior, and Beth (Bob) Stark, Little Falls, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Austin and Kate Porter, Aaron, Allison and Adam Paske, and Emily and Alec Stark; brothers, Robert (Marie) Wachtler, Wabasha, Minn., and William (Peg) Wachtler, Superior; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Tom) Campbell, Arizona and Superior, and Debra Wachtler, Superior; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. The visitation will resume at 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 in Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Superior. Reverend Father Ronald Olson will be the celebrant. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
Pallbearers will be Bob Stark, Tim Paske, Aaron Paske, Emily Stark, Tom Campbell and Steven Wachtler.
