KELLY "KEL" MICHAEL BOEDIGHEIMER

Kelly "Kel" Michael Boedigheimer, 39, of Duluth, made Heaven his home on Monday, Oct.

Kelly "Kel" Michael Boedigheimer, 39, of Duluth, made Heaven his home on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, after losing a nine month battle to Melanoma.

He was born in Cloquet on Dec. 17, 1971, to Francis and Joan (McKibbon) Boedigheimer.

His partner and best friend, Joe Peterson, was at his side for more than 13 years while they built a life together based on love and commitment.

He loved to travel, host parties and spend time with their best buddy, Chaos.

Kel loved having people around him and was surrounded by many that loved him deeply. The prayers for a miracle to extend his life were not meant to be, but everyone who knew him came to realize that the true miracle was he came into their lives and thus will live forever. His sense of humor and quick wit would illuminate a room and he continued to entertain until the end. His spirit surrounds his loved ones and they will always remember his smile which fills them with peace.

Kelly worked for Black Bear Casino for nearly 20 years and formed multiple, lasting friendships with the staff and coworkers. He was well respected as an honest, fair and considerate employee and manager. He loved his job and his Black Bear family.

Kelly will be missed by everyone that knew him, especially Joe who loved him like no other; his parents; sisters Cindy (George) Meger, and Tammy (Larry) Zeadow; brother, Scott; seven nieces including Marisa, Lindsay, Alycia, Jennifer, Rebekka, Carroline, Sammantha; and one nephew, Cody. He will be dearly missed by his many wonderful friends and large extended family, the Petersons, who loved and welcomed him as a son, brother and uncle.

Joe and the family wish to thank the Hospice staff at Essentia for their compassionate care and concern during the past month.

CELEBRATION OF LOVE TO HONOR THIS AMAZING MAN: 1 until the 2:30 p.m. service Saturday, Nov. 12, in the Cremation Society of Duluth. A celebratory reception from 5 to midnight Saturday in the Black Bear Golf Clubhouse in Carlton will follow.

Services entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minnesota, (218) 624-5200.

Joe, I can only say how sorry I am for your lose. I often ask myself why Kelly and everytime the answer is the same. God has a plan for all of us and we aren't here to ask why, but to accept and cherish the good, the love and the understanding of those around us that have touched our lives. Kelly was that person for me. He taught me how to be positive, keep a smile and hold close those around me that were true friends. You and Kelly where friends that I considered close and I always looked forward to seeing you both. Kelly, I will miss you very much and I am a better person for knowing you. OOXX

My heart felt condolences go out to Kelly's family and friends. It was such a great pleasure to have known such a wonderful person. The times that I worked with Kelly were memorable ones. I will miss that smiling face. I wish I was able to make it to celebrate his life with everyone...but unfortunately am not able to. To kelly~ May God be with your family and loved ones and find comfort in knowing that you are at peace. We will all miss your wonderful laugh and smiling face. Until we meet again. Rest in Peace. Your friend, ~Bettina~
