Lyle R. Howard, 79, passed away at home of natural causes, Oct. 1, 2011.
He was born Dec. 5, 1932, and lived in Duluth all of his life.
He enjoyed cars, fishing, reading, history, watching the history channel, and he loved dogs.
Lyle was in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. He owned Spirit Valley Siding in the 1980s. He worked as a pipe insulator, retired from and was a proud member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 49. He held office at the West Duluth VFW and was a member of the Moose, American Legion and Salvation Army also in West Duluth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Rose Howard; three brothers, Sydney Jr., Russell and Ronald; and two sisters, Donna and Bunny.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; and their children, Debbie (Jeff) Howard, Linda (Dana) Lockwood, and Robert (Shelly) Howard; six grandchildren, Daniel Howard, Dennis Howard, Melissa Howard, Caleb Colton, Dereck Lockwood and Destini Lockwood; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his dog, Cinnamon.
VISITATION: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
