The Reverend Father John Golobich, 88, died on Sunday, June 5, 2011, in St. Ann's Residence, Duluth.
Father Golobich was born in Ely on April 3, 1923. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Duluth by Bishop Thomas Welch in Sacred Heart Cathedral on June 5, 1948.
Father Golobich served as Pastor in Hibbing, Kerrick, Lakewood, Gnesen, Tower, Silver Bay and several parishes in Duluth.
Father served as Faithful Friar for the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Father was an Auxiliary Air Force Chaplain at Finland AFS from 1965-1972, during this same time he served as Silver Bay Port Chaplain. Father served on several Diocesan Boards and Councils.
Father Golobich is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Maria Golobich; a niece; a nephew; and fellow priests of the Diocese of Duluth.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. with 6:30 p.m. wake prayers Wednesday, June 8, in Hegstrom Family Funeral Home, 5405 Ramsey St., Duluth. Visitation resumes at 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, June 9, in St. James Church, Duluth. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. James School, Duluth, would be appreciated.
