Dessie (Zakula) Robinson, 86
Dessie (Zakula) Robinson, 86, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Hobart, Ind., passed away on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009.
Dessie was born in Duluth on Oct. 7, 1923, to George and Dorothy Zakula.
Dessie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After living in northwest Indiana for most of her life, she retired to Florida for several years before moving to Indianapolis. She was a longtime employee of Wiseway Food Stores and a member of the Retail Clerks Union. Dessie was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and St. Stephen Orthodox Church in Indianapolis. Her pride and joy in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John C. Robinson; sisters Mae, Mary and Donna; brothers George, Peter, Mel, Thomas and Raymond; and infant son Ricky Lynn.
She is survived by her son, Tom (Barbara) Robinson; daughters Peggy (Mark) Hinckley and Denise (Terry) Butler; seven grandchildren: Brian, Daniel and Joseph Butler, Michael Robinson, Tricia Robinson Suri, Katy Dowling and Casey Moeller; six great-grandchildren; twin brother Deslove Zakula; sisters-in-law Connie, Lorraine and Mary Zakula; and several nieces and nephews.

Louis “Lou” William Hammel, 84, died in Duluth Jan. 3, 2010. A private memorial service will be held on Madeline Island near Bayfield, Wis., at a later date.
Gregory Mielke, 35
Gregory Joseph Mielke, 35, of Duluth, died Jan. 1, 2010. Services were held Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with burial at Sunrise Cemetery.
Patrick Mullins, 49
Patrick A. Mullins, 49, of Duluth, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009. Services were Tuesday at Park Hill Cemetery.
Lloyd Nelson, 91
Lloyd “Bud” Nelson, 91, of Proctor, died Dec. 30, 2009, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living. Services were held Jan. 2 at Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home with entombment at Forest Hill.
Richard T. Samuelson, 85
World War II veteran and Cloquet native Richard T. Samuelson, 85, died Jan. 5, 2010, in Duluth. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Minnesota is handling arrangements.
Daniel Willard, 64
Daniel L. Willard, 64, of Duluth, died Jan. 1, 2010, surrounded by his family. Services were held Friday at the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
Sherry Ohlin, 67
Sherry (Capra) Ohlin, 67, of Duluth, died Jan. 1, 2010. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Cremation Society.
Robert Roningen, 74
Robert N. Roningen, 74, of Duluth, died Jan. 4, 2010, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. A memorial celebration was Friday at First Lutheran Church.
