Rose A. Langlois, 97

Rose A. Langlois, 97, formerly of Hutchinson Road, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Viewcrest Health Center.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1912, in Duluth, the eldest of six children of Carmine and Carrie (Blotti) Priolo. Rose graduated from Denfeld High School and attended the Duluth State Teachers College and graduated with a degree in primary education.

Rose married Philip Edward Langlois on Sept. 25, 1935, in Duluth and left teaching to raise her family. Her husband died in 1945 and she returned to work at Neil Bort Pie Co., Johnson Grocery and Meat Co., Franks Meat and Grocery and Stanley Home Products until her retirement.

Rose was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where she was active in many guilds, the Daughters of Isabella and Women of the Moose where she held many positions, including senior regent. She was active with the Lincoln Park and Duluth flower and garden clubs, bowling leagues and a Glensheen tour guide.

In her later years she enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and visits to the casino.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Theodore and Carmine; sisters Mary Wisocki and Catherine Slocum; a grandson, Scott Langlois; and her special friend Don Mattson.

She is survived by her children, Philip (Frances) Langlois of Severna Park , Md., and Carmine (Theresa) Langlois and Thomas (Patricia) Langlois, both of Duluth; sister Patricia (Dennis) Norlander of Duluth; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Viewcrest for all their hard work taking care of Rose. Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral mass Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, with Jim Scheuer officiating and burial at Calvary Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to the donor’s choice. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Funeral Home.

Carol Ebrahim, 61

Carol Ebrahim, 61, died Dec. 27, 2009, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. Services were held Wednesday at First Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Lawrence ‘Larry’ M. Pierce, 48

Lawrence “Larry” M. Pierce, 48, of Duluth, died Dec. 25, 2009. Services were held Thursday at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel.

Dorothy Jane Michaud, 86

Dorothy Jane (Johnson) Michaud, 86, died at the Benedictine Health Center in Duluth on Dec. 28, 2009. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday at St. Mary of the Lake church in White Bear Lake.

Patricia Priley, 58

Patricia A. (Mortinsen) Priley, 58, of Duluth, died Dec. 29, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center after a long illness. There will be a memorial mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home

Carolyn Lee Timmerman, 73

Carolyn Lee Timmerman, 73, of Duluth, died Dec. 21, 2009. Services were held Monday at Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home.

John Wanglie, 49

John D. Wanglie, 49, died suddenly on Dec. 23, 2009, from flu complications. Services were Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church.
