Charlotte (Philomena) Virginia Gentile, 97, of Cloquet, formerly of Keewatin, died peacefully in Sunnyside Health Care Center on Dec. 23, 2009.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1912 in Pillsbury Location, Chisholm, Minn. to Silvio and Erstila (Ghilardi) Fiorini.
Charlotte was very active in her community, which she loved. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, National Catholic Society of Foresters, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Keewatin Senior Citizens. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her grandsons and great-grandchildren playing hockey “Go Gophers.”
Charlotte married John Gentile on Oct. 20, 1937.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Righetta, Rita, Margaret and Angeline; and brothers, Mondo, Eric and Peter.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Julian) Bertogliat of Esko; son, Richard (Glenna) Gentile of Hibbing; grandchildren, Joseph and Todd Gentile, Jennifer Westley, Tony and Jesse Bertogliat; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Allan Westley, Mario, Isabella, Tia, Olivia, Gino and Stella Bertogliat; brother, Orlando (Clara) Fiorini of Chisholm; sister, Edna LaVigne of Hibbing; also several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff at Sunnyside Health Care and Fern Olson, her special friend and roommate, for their loving care during the final journey of Charlotte’s life.
FUNERAL MASS: 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 108 W. 1st Ave, Keewatin. Family will receive friends one hour before the mass also in the church.
