Shirley (Brown) Goldberg, 79, formerly of Superior, Wis.
Shirley (Brown) Goldberg, 79, formerly of Superior, Wis., passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospice.
She was born April 9, 1930 to James and Elizabeth Brown in Superior, Wis.
Shirley graduated from Central High School in 1948. She was married briefly in the early 1950's and had two daughters.
On Nov. 2, 1963 she married Bernard Goldberg and had two sons.
Shirley was a certified ceramics instructor and taught out of her home and at local studios. Besides ceramics, Shirley sewed, knitted, crocheted, did needlepoint, and painted watercolors and acrylics. She was also an award winning cook and baker.
Shirley and Bernard moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1995 and stayed until the tropical weather in Florida beckoned in 2000. They moved back to the Twin Ports in the fall of 2008 when Shirley's health began to fail.
She is preceded in death by her father, James in 1940; mother, Betty Harris in 1975; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Bernard Goldberg of Hermantown; daughters, Cheryl (Dan) McGregor of Superior; Lauren (Gary) Smith of Loveland, Colo.; sons, Carey (Kay Safford) Goldberg of Colorado Springs, Colo., James (Elvis Rivera) Goldberg of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Anna, Kara and Moriah Goldberg, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Holly and Dustin; and many cousins.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009 in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth. Visitation will be held one hour before service. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of MN, 624-5200.
