Throat singers Lydia Etok (left) and Nina Segalowitz break up in laughter at the end of one of their throat-singing contests. Some throat songs are friendly competitions where the singers try to make each other laugh. Etok of Kangiqsualujjaq, Quebec, and Segalowitz of Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, performed Nunavik-style throat singing Friday at Siiviis Gallery in Canal Park. Etok lost most of their matches.
