Pepperkakebyen

Laura Ness, “mayor” of Pepperkakebyen holds a “gingerbread” key to the city. The Sons of Norway of Duluth opened their pepperkakerbyen (gingerbread city) on Friday night immediately following the official lighting of the tree at Minnesota Plaza. Duluth Mayor Don Ness, his wife, Laura, and their three children were on hand for a ribbon cutting to help mark the official opening night of the gingerbread city at the Nordic Center in the Sons of Norway Building at 23 N. Lake Ave. It’s open to the public on Fridays, Saturday and Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m. until Dec. 15. (Naomi Yaeger / nyaeger@duluthbudgeteer.com)
