Women of Distinction

Duluth YWCA Women of Distinction Award winners Mary Asmus, Kris Ridgewell, Jodi Broadwell and Tonya Sconiers playfully strike a Charlie’s Angels pose during a luncheon ceremony Wednesday in the Harbor Side Ballroom at the DECC. The award recognizes and honors women who have made significant contributions to the community. Asmus is an assistant city attorney in the Duluth city attorney’s office. Ridgewell is the executive director of the West Duluth Community Development Corp. and Sconiers is the principal at Denfeld High School. Broadwell was named an emerging leader, an award for women younger than 35. She serves on the boards of several nonprofits and was instrumental in bringing the “RACE: Are We So Different?” exhibit to Duluth. (Naomi Yaeger / nyaeger@duluthbudgeteer.com)
