My friend, David Lawrence, was born in Bluefield, W.Va., in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army for more than 27 years. He served in Vietnam from 1966-68 and retired in 1992. After he retired from the service he lived in the Twin Cities before moving to Duluth. He has two children: a daughter, Randi, and a son, Gary. He was a proud member of the Honor Guard at the American Legion in West Duluth. He also was a volunteer firefighter for Lakewood Township, and worked for the Duluth Water and Gas Department. He was a great person and I am grateful to have been part of his life.
