Yeoman 3rd Class James J. Sanders served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-67. He served one year at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, then was assigned 18 months to Commander Carrier Division 5, which was permanently stationed in the Gulf of Tonkin, South Vietnam on the USS Kitty Hawk and USS Constellation. Both aircraft carriers were used to run booming raids for our military units that were fighting the Vietnam War. Each aircraft carrier would be in the Gulf for six months and would automatically relieve each other.
