“This is appalling,” said Gary Meier, with the Lake Superior Coldwater Coalition, as he describes a large willow tree that was cut down along Chester Creek. Meier is upset with what he believes is obsessive cutting of trees along the creek after the June flood. Among other things, trees provide shade to keep the stream cool for fish such as trout.
