In April, pastors Ulring Larson and Judd Larson visited Haiti and heard stories of rebuilding and hope — children being able to finally look forward to schools opening. School kits seemed the logical place to focus the First Lutheran Church’s efforts over the Easter season.
First Lutheran Church women led about 30 sewers, 150 Sunday school children and many congregation members in making and filling 220 student bags with much-needed school supplies that will be delivered to the Northeast Women of the ELCA 25th anniversary Gathering at University of Minnesota Duluth on June 8-9. There they will be combined with thousands of school kits from other Lutheran congregations in Northeastern Minnesota and will be trucked down to the Lutheran World Relief warehouse in the Twin Cities.
