Hull Rust mine near Hibbing


A University of Minnesota study says former iron ore mines that have filled with water could become storage sites for energy. Electricity generated when it’s not needed would be used to pump water uphill. Then, when the energy was needed, the water would flow back down through turbines to produce electricity.
