Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago" -- the brainchild of Eau Claire resident Justin Vernon -- was one of the most critically acclaimed records of 2008 and, not surprisingly, it topped a number of local year-end lists. Northlanders Marc Gartman, Katy Helbacka and Lance Rhicard all told the Budgeteer it was one of their favorite albums of the year. (The only record with more nods on our lists was Atmosphere's "When Life Gives You Lemons.")
