Digging in at the Soo Locks

Michigan Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin (center) and a host of dignitaries break ground Tuesday in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., for the launch of the coffer dam construction at the Soo Locks. The $1.9 million project represents the first phase of a project to replace the existing Sabin and Davis Locks. The new lock will be 1,200 feet long with a width of 110 feet allowing for the passage of all Great Lakes going vessels.
