40 days of prayer

Karen Franczyk (left) and her husband, Tom Franczyk of Wentworth, Wis., sing and pray with others who oppose abortion, as Tim Caza of Duluth plays worship music in the background Sunday night. Lori Westland (not pictured) helped lead a 40-day vigil in front of the Women’s Health Center that ended on Sunday night. Westland said the vigil, which was being held in 179 cities across the country and began on Sept. 24, has seen at least one person stand in front of the center for 24 hours a day. She called the effort non-confrontational and not a protest. “We’re here just to pray,” she said. [Amanda Hansmeyer / News Tribune]
