Barb, Shirley and families, I was saddened to hear of the loss of your father. In 1972 he was one of three officers with the Duluth Air National Guard that promoted me to 2nd Lieutenant and sent me on a lifelong journey of flying that continues today. For that I will always be ever grateful to Colonel Hed. In this time of profound loss to your families, know that there are many of us over the years who worked and knew your father for the fine man that he was in his military life and his personal life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope your fond memories of your father will carry you through these difficult times. Tom Wick Folsom, Ca. info@tomwick.com

Dear family of Colonel, I can't remember not knowing Colonel, as I lost my own father (Roy Niemi) 4 months ago I thought of how good friends he was with the Colonel. Amazing that they would actually do things together since their political views were so different, I didn't stick around to hear the debates that would go on and on between them. They both shared the love of planes. My mother for years translated all his swedish letters for him. He was a kind man, I am sorry for your loss, but what a great life he lived.

Hi Barb, I am thinking about you at this time. It is an end of an era! Remember how we used to sneak out to the "shack" in your backyard. If your dad only knew!!! Take care. Carol Radford McKay
