Four players scored goals and Dylan Parker stopped 24 shots to lead Duluth East to a 4-3 victory over Grand Rapids in Thursday's Section 7AA final at Amsoil Arena before 5,850 fans, what is believed to be the largest high school crowd in Northland history.
The last time Duluth East’s boys basketball team was in the public eye, the program was in the midst of a soap opera that pitted players and coaches against administrators and ended with a loss of eligibility for the team’s 7-foot center, a state tournament defeat and a couple of high-profile firings.
Junior guard Jayme Moten scored 19 points — including a clutch 3-pointer late — and New London-Spicer held off Crosby-Ironton 62-52 Saturday for the Minnesota Class AA high school boys basketball championship.
