The Minnesota Senate gave final approval yesterday to a bill authorizing the creation of a Spirit Mountain Recreation Area Authority in Duluth. The bill, approved by the House last week, now goes back to that body for concurrence in a minor amendment.
Hermantown senior Megan Danelski, the 2012 Minnesota high school girls Alpine ski champion, said this week she’ll attend St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., in 2013-14 and be a candidate for the school’s ski team.
This time of year, the snow on lakes starts to form a hard crust. It’s a great time to get out on your skis and go. Especially early in the mornings, when the crust is hardest, you can ski almost effortlessly atop the crust.
