Major league baseball is back in stadiums across the country. America’s favorite pastime is now ready to be part of our cold spring evenings, warm summer nights and crisp fall afternoons and I, for one, couldn’t be more excited about it.
The season for fitness competitions is once again in full force and Duluthians and others who have been working hard around the Twin Ports are showcasing what they’ve been working on in numerous local shows.
Going into a Feb. 8 bout at St. Paul’s Crowne Plaza in St. Paul, Al Sands of Duluth had a record of 6-1 with six knockouts in six years of boxing. His opponent, JJ Corn, had stats of 47-25-3 and 26 KOs in 28 years of boxing — two years longer than Sands has been on the planet, let alone in a boxing ring.
Excitement filled the air at Grandma’s Sports Garden as members of the Minnesota Twins, their coaching staff, their radio broadcaster and even their beloved mascot T.C. pulled into town as part of their annual Winter Caravan.
