ESTHER GUNDERSON

Esther Gunderson, 94, of Duluth, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Diamond Willow.

She was born Oct. 17, 1918 in Lakota, N.D., to Jno and Helmi Granlund.

Esther sewed custom drapes for several department stores and local interior decorators. She then worked at Avionics and Pioneer National Bank. Esther was an avid knitter and loved to read.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; son, Kenneth and daughter, JoAnn Sabick; sisters, Lydia Thompson, Vi Rasanen, Fern Setterlund and Amy Abrams; brothers, John and Ralph Granlund.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Larry) Ivanovich; grandchildren, Jeri Ann (Steve) Hansen, Jon Sabick (Mary Ann Strohman), Russ Gunderson, Lana (Troy) Rajanen, Lori Gunderson, Scott and Shelly Ivanovich; great-grandchildren, Mandy Hansen (Andrew Petroski), Joe Hansen, David Sabick (Kim Olson), KC Gunderson, Daniel (Leah) Gunderson, Jeremy and Sarah Rajanen and Scott and Trisha Fagerness; great-great-grandchildren, Kyla Gunderson and Nora Renae Sabick; son-in-law, Jerry Sabick; also, special person, Carol Schmitz.

The family wishes to thank the “Angles” who took such wonderful care of Esther at World Traveler Cottage, at Diamond Willow. They are a special group of women.

The family is having a private gathering.
