Henry Novacinski, 82, of Cloquet, died of respiratory complications on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
Henry Novacinski, 82, of Cloquet, died of respiratory complications on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
He was born June 30, 1930 in Cloquet to Alex and Pelagia Novacinski.
Henry was a Sergeant in the 17th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Upon returning from the service, he resumed his job at North West Paper Company. Henry retired after 50 years at Potlatch. He was a member of the VFW Legion, American Legion, and the Potlatch Quarter Century Club.
Henry married Florence Ledin from Superior, Wis., and enjoyed 46 years of marriage before her death in 2001. Henry was a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, splitting firewood, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; five brothers, Chester, Marion, Ben, Bernard, and Stanley Novacinski; four sisters, Regina Pasko, Bernice Himango, Helen Meger, and Stella Esala; nephews, Jerry, Michael, Bernard Jr., and Webb Novacinski, and William Pasko.
Survivors include his sons, Jason (friend Elise Riesch) of Cloquet, Grant (Cheryl) Novacinski of St. Joseph; daughter, Brenda (friend Randy Stasica) Novacinski of Columbia Heights; grandchildren, Moriah and Ethan Novacinski of St. Joseph; brothers, Louis (Nancy), Walter, and Zegment (JoAnn) Novacinski all of Cloquet.
The family would like to say thank you to the caregivers of St. Luke’s Hospital for the excellent care you gave Henry on his final journey. Henry will be missed by everyone who was fortunate to have entered his life.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
