Mary Jane Davis, 91 of Mahtowa died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center in Moose Lake.

Mary Jane Davis, 91 of Mahtowa died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center in Moose Lake.

She was born Sept. 27, 1921 in Duluth to Oscar and Julia Carlson.

Mary Jane grew up in Mahtowa, attended Park Lake School and graduated from Barnum High School in 1939. She attended Business College in Duluth. On Feb. 2, 1952, Mary Jane married Floyd Davis. They made their home in Mahtowa, raising their children and farming together. Mary Jane also worked as a cook at Park Lake Bible Camp and was a bookkeeper at Mendenhall Graham.

Mary Jane was a member of Mahtowa Covenant Church, was a former Mahtowa 4-H Leader, and had been a member of a string band. She enjoyed crafting and gardening.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; son Freddy Davis; foster son, Lloyd Warren; granddaughter, Amanda Lofgren; great grandsons, Jackson Korpela and Billy Couillard; and brother, Kermit Carlson.

She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her children Dale (Debbie) and Darwin (Del) both of Barnum, Darryl (Bruce) of Sturgeon Lake, Dwayne (Stana) of Moose Lake, Dan (Ellen) of Mahtowa, Darlene (Arnie) Lofgren of Barnum and Denise (Scott) Couillard of Barnum; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 in Mahtowa Covenant Church. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the church social hall. Burial will be in the spring at Mount Salem Cemetery in Mahtowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mahtowa Covenant Church.
