George J. Piasecki, 61, of Granite Falls, formerly of Duluth passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 near Milan, Minn.

George J. Piasecki, 61, of Granite Falls, formerly of Duluth passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 near Milan, Minn.

George Joseph Piasecki was born March 19, 1951 in Duluth, the son of Felix and Michalina (Bedz) Piasecki.

He grew up in Duluth and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1969, and attended UMD. He was a grain inspector for the State of Minnesota for 30 years, stationed in Duluth and later being transferred to Granite Falls.

He enjoyed golfing, skiing, and ran in three Grandma’s Marathons. He always looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada with his brother.

He was preceded in death by his father Felix and brother Chester.

George is survived by his mother, Michalina of Duluth; brothers, Edward (Karin) and Richard (Jackie), all of Duluth; nieces and nephews, Sarah, Kristie, Julia, Edward Jr., Michael, and Jenn.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth with a prayer service at 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 325 East Third Street, Duluth. Burial at Polish Catholic Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home (218) 727-3555.
