Richard “Dick” Adolph Hill, 84, of Las Vegas, formerly of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, in his home after a long courageous battle with bone cancer.

Richard “Dick” Adolph Hill, 84, of Las Vegas, formerly of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, in his home after a long courageous battle with bone cancer.
Dick was born in Duluth Aug. 6, 1928, and grew up in Proctor. After graduating from Proctor High School in 1946, he served in the Army and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Dick graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1953 with a masters degree in education administration and was named outstanding senior athlete.
He worked on the D.M. & I.R. Railroad as a locomotive fireman prior to and while attending college. Dick served as a teacher, counselor, coach, athletic director and secondary principal for the Duluth Public School System. After retiring from the Duluth Public School System, Dick moved to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas he worked as an event coordinator at the UNLV Thomas and Mack Center, as a Senior Arena Event Manager at the MGM hotel and was the office assistant with Celine Dion Productions at Caesars Palace until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Kevin; stepfather Adolph Rindal; and his mother, Bertha Rindal.
Dick is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Las Vegas; daughter Kim (Ron) Peterson of Cottage Grove, Minn.; daughter Kirby (Mike) Mizerek of DePere, Wis.; daughter Kelly (Doug) McGregor of Omaha, Neb.; son Kent Hill of Las Vegas; brother William (Ann) Hill of Colorado; brother Ed (Bonnie) Hill of Texas; sister MaryLou Clough of Florida; his grandchildren of whom he was extremely loving and proud of, Amy, Katie, Angie, Josh, Jill, Adam, Ashley, Brooke and Alex; his wonderful great-grandchildren Mia, Ava, Isaac, Joella, Allison, Jackson and Emma; and several nieces and nephews.
Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
VISITATION: 1 until the 2:30 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Feb. 9, in First Presbyterian Church, 300 E. Second St., Duluth.

Although the miles apart were many, the memories are not. Uncle Dick was always spoke of as stong, kind and one who helped many. God needs those kind of people, I know. He has chosed to recieve one of the best.Saint Petersburg, FL 02/03/2013 5:26 PM
