Phillip Michael Piper, 33, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 in Reno, Nev. due to complication of a life long struggle with diabetes.
Phil was born May 26, 1979 in Duluth to Michael and Kathleen Piper.
Phil was a graduate of Duluth East High School and the University of Eugene, Ore. He worked for the American Red Cross in Eugene, Ore. and currently was a conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad in Reno, Nev.
Phil was a devoted loving father. He loved the outdoors, listening to music, antiques, sports and traveling. Phil never met a stranger; he was a friend to all.
Phil was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wesley; maternal grandfather, Phillip Burkland; paternal grandfather, Billy Piper; maternal step-grandfather, Stewart Bilderback; aunt, Pam Starkey; uncles, Tony Walczak and Mark Martin; cousins, Amber Clements and Katie Burkland.
Phil is survived, loved and will be remembered forever by his son, Nathaniel Curtis; parents, Mike and Kathy; sister, Michelle; nieces Meadow, Chloe and Nahla; maternal grandmother, Cecelia Bilderback; paternal grandmother, Mae Wolfe; aunts, Gloria Walzcak, Ramona Clements, Mary Martin, Norma Mann and Debbie Piper; uncles Joe Burkland, Darell Piper, Brian Piper, Bob McDonald, Jim Clements and James Mann; and many extended family and friends.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 with a visitation at 10 a.m. at The River Church, 1901 East 4th Street, Duluth. Pastor Rob Dean officiating.
