Carol Jean Krize, 79, of Virginia, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan.4, 2013.
Carol was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Sparta, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Inga (Gulbranson) Orazem.
Carol lived in the range cities for many years and also had a home in Phoenix where she spent much of her time with her two youngest sons and husband who were involved in the thoroughbred horse breeding and racing industry. She enjoyed summers in Minnesota and winters in Phoenix, where she took great pleasure in visiting unique Arizona destinations. Carol enjoyed gardening, knitting, crafts and making gifts for her many grandchildren. She was a caring and devoted mother and daughter, giving much of her time and love to her family and helping her elderly parents prior to their passing.
Carol then continued to give her special gift of helping others by being a volunteer Senior Companion with Lutheran Social Services for over 10 years and served until August of 2012.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bonita Rae Orazem and former husband Rudy Krize.
She is survived by her children Michael (Julie) Jacka, Aurora, Minn., Gary Jacka, Cook, Minn., Shelley (Mark) Ceryance, Duluth, Randy (Terrie) Jacka, Phoenix, Ariz., Kevin (Lisa) Jacka, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister Janet (George) Kovich, Duluth; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Pastor Nathan Sager will be officiating. Memorials are preferred to Lutheran Social Service-Senior Companions. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Online guestbook at www.rangefuneralhomes.com
