Blaine M. Sarff, 91, of Coon Rapids, and formerly of Cloquet, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.
He was born April 24, 1921, in Staples, MN to Melvin and Marie (Brever) Sarff. Blaine served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Machinist Mate First Class. He moved to Cloquet in 1955 and worked as a board operator for the Conoco Refinery in Wrenshall until his retirement. Blaine had been a member of the Scanlon Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Hebert-Kennedy VFW Post 3979 in Cloquet.
Blaine was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Beaulah. He is survived by one daughter, Shirley (James) Whittenberg of Fridley; one brother, Gerald Sarff of Duluth; one sister, Iris Kuberra of Duluth; 5 grandchildren, Karla, Laura, Valerie, Dale and Anne; 8 great-grandchildren, Michelle, Derek, Travis, Justin, Joseph, David, James, and Andrew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 in Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Interment service with Military Honors will be 2 p.m. at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
