JOAN LOGAN

Joan Logan, 80, of Duluth passes away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 in her home.

Joan Logan, 80, of Duluth passes away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 in her home.

She was born April 8, 1932 in Duluth to Angela and Holland Kieswetter.

She graduated from Central High School, and received her Master's of Education from UMD.

Joan was a teacher in the Duluth Public School System, for many years.

She was very active in her church, Pilgrim Congregational, as well as her community. She served as Chairperson for the Empty Bowl Committee, and worked as an activist for environmental groups in Duluth. She was a very proud member of the League of Women Voters, and also Chester Creek garden club. She started Robbi's Closet at the AME Church in Duluth.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Elisa “Lisa” Logan; cousins, David (Mim) Hanson, Dick (Pat) Fayling, Jean Swain; sister-in-law, Roseanne Shoberg, her nieces and nephews Debbie (John) Filander, June Kieswetter, Cindy (Marshall) Mills, Laura (Adam) Bohlmann, Steven Kieswetter, Kathy (John) Osroot, Robin (Fred) Maharry, and Nancy (Stuart) Olsen. She was also blessed to have many great nieces and nephews.

Joan was a lover of art, music, education, and the environment. She believed in uniting people and communities. She will be missed.
