Deborah J. Verke, 58, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 in her home.
Born on July 31, 1954 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Gerald P. and Joann (Kessey) Smith.
She grew up and attended schools in Oak Forest, Ill., and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1972. She also lived in Pine River, Minn., before moving to Grand Rapids, Minn., in 1978. She married Bruce Verke on Nov. 18, 1972 in Bemidji.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce Verke of Grand Rapids, Minn.; two sons Jason (Janelle) Verke of Marshall, Minn., and Aaron (Sarah) Verke of Grand Rapids, Minn.; four grandchildren; her parents, Gerald and Joann Smith of Duluth; her siblings Kent (Penny) Smith of Warroad, Minn., Pam (Rick) Hamilton of Turtle River, Minn., Dan (Kathy) Smith and Joel Smith, both of Bemidji, Minn.
