Lawrence Edwin Arnold, 81, of Lakewood Township, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident near his home.
He was born on June 1, 1931 to Clarence and Sylvia (Sylvester) Arnold.
He attended Lakewood School and graduated from Duluth Central High School. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.
He married Marilyn Hagadorn on Jan. 16, 1954 and they had four children. Lawrence, or "Bix" as many knew him, enjoyed 44 years of marriage to Marilyn until her death in 1998. There were many years of weekends at the cabin on Whiteface Reservoir with family and friends, and fun times with the grandkids in Minnesota and Arizona.
He worked for Moen Brothers, Glendenning Motorways, Arrowhead Blacktop and Levine & Son, Inc.
Lawrence truly enjoyed being outside. He cut wood, mowed and trimmed his lawn, and spent many hours "detailing" his daughter and son-in-laws properties with his push lawnmower and weed-whacker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; along with brothers Harold and Harry.
He is survived by two sons Gary of Gulfport, Miss., and Ron of Florida; daughters June (Jeff) Levine of Duluth and Joan (Mark) Engesath of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jesse Arnold, Cathy Buchanan and Tom Arnold of Duluth, Jill (Mitch) Billman of Pillager, Minn., Jeffrey Levine of Virginia Beach, Vir., Kristin and Kevin Engesath of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kimberly (Cory) Stockman of San Clemente, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; brother Floyd (Odella) Arnold of Springfield, MO.; sisters-in-law Carmen Arnold and Betty Hagadorn of Duluth and Beverly Arnold of Lancaster, Penn., along with friends and neighbors.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 in Cremation of Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota 624-5200.
