Peggy Kim, long time Duluth resident, passed away in San Leandro, Calif., on Oct 8, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
The eldest of seven children, Mrs. Kim was born in Pusan, Korea, in 1931.
She married Hyung Kim in 1952, and the couple moved to Seattle, Wash., in 1954, where they attended Seattle Pacific University. The Kims moved to Duluth in 1963, where they raised three children. Hyung served for many years as a professor at UMD and Peggy worked as a computer programmer for St. Louis County. The couple retired back to Seattle in 1992, and Mrs. Kim moved to California in 2002, after the passing of her beloved husband.
The Kims shared a lifelong passion for travel, visiting all seven continents and living for a time in England, Taiwan and Malaysia. They also enjoyed opera and ballroom dancing. Mrs. Kim remained active in retirement, taking up golf, joining the Red Hat society and taking part in volunteer work. She was known in her community for her friendliness and desire to help others.
Mrs. Kim is survived by her three children, Lisa Drake, Mimi Kim and Ron Kim, and three grandchildren.
