GLADYS ELAINE (ANDERSON) SCHLOER

Gladys E. Schloer, 97, of Cloquet, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at Diamond Willow.

Gladys E. Schloer, 97, of Cloquet, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at Diamond Willow.

She was born Feb. 1, 1915 in Rush City, Minn. to Oscar and Elna (Olson) Anderson.

Gladys moved to Frontenac, Minn. in 1931 to work, and met Walter C. Schloer. On June 5th, 1937, Gladys and Walter were married and later moved to Caledonia, Minn. and then to Red Wing, Minn.. In 1942, she and Walter moved to Minneapolis where they raised their three sons. Gladys was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church and active in church activities. She was very active as a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts, and election judge, and followed her son's activities with great enthusiasm. Gladys love to cook, bake and make lefsa. Most of all she enjoyed raising her three sons, and spending time with her family. Her special joy was being involved with the lives of her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter C. Schloer Sr.; one brother, Edwin and one sister, Irene. She is survived by three sons, Walter C. (Harriet) Schloer of Bend, OR, Kenneth (Gwen) Schloer of Cloquet, and Ronald (Debra) Schloer of Minneapolis; one brother, Wendell (Delores) Anderson of Roseville, MN; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Diamond Willow of Cloquet, St. Luke's Hospice Care and Nelson Funeral Care for the loving and compassionate care given to Gladys.

VISITATION: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet until the 6:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Services will resume in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, 128 W. 33rd Street, Mpls., with a visitation from 11 a.m. until the 12 noon funeral service, followed with a luncheon in the church social hall. Interment service will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal, Minn. at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the Gladys Schloer Memorial Fund in care of the family.
