DONALD GENE RAKOWSKY

Donald Gene Rakowsky, 84, of Sarasota, Fla. formerly of Duluth, died on Aug. 27, 2012.

Donald Gene Rakowsky, 84, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Duluth, died on Aug. 27, 2012.

He was a retired Biology teacher from Harper College and Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois. He was in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served in both World War II and the Korean War. He graduated from The University of Minnesota Duluth where he received both his Bachelor and Master's degrees and married his classmate Nancy Ann Graham. They were to celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on Sept 3rd. They retired to Sarasota to be near their daughter Donna and her family He will be truly missed as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and friend.

Don is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Donna (Dr. Brian) Garby; son-in-law Brian; grandchildren Graham and Carolyn, brother Robert (Jeannine) Rakowsky; sisters Ann (Rusty) Rinehart and Alice (Jim) Lyon; brothers-in-law Jim Graham and Bill (Ria) Graham and several nephews and nieces.

PRIVATE SERVICE: will be held by the immediate family and a celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date.

So sorry to hear baout Don. Nancy our heart feelings go out to you and your family. He will be sorrly missed by all that knew him. Jack and Shirley.
