Marlys V. Huttel, 85, longtime resident of Hermantown, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012 at Golden Oaks, Proctor.
Marlys V. Huttel, 85, longtime resident of Hermantown, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012 at Golden Oaks, Proctor.
She was born June 8, 1927, in Wakefield, Mich., and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. On June 25, 1949, she married Robert F. Huttel.
Marlys was a tax preparer for H&R Block for many years. She coached Girls' Softball and played Women's Softball, in Hermantown. Marlys enjoyed spending time at the cabin with her family.
Marlys was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Niemi.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert; three daughters, Diane (Mike) Witchall Matara, Barb (Bob) Struck and Deb (Paul) Reinier all of Hermantown; seven grandchildren, Kara, Kasey (Tara), Jaime (Darren), Jennifer (Joel), Jake (Ashley), Seth and Alex; five great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Gillian, Adalyn, Grace and Holden; two brothers, Palmer "Bud" (Gayle) Swanson and Myron (Marianne) Swanson all of Michigan: former son-in-law, Niel Niemi of Colorado.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Golden Oaks for their care and compassion.
VISITATION: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Friday, Aug. 31, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave.
