DULUTH - Karen Wittkop, 51, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012 after a courageous 2 ½ year battle against lung cancer.

Visitation: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, until the 11 a.m. memorial service in Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 West Third St. Duluth.

Mark and your family, Will and Darrel, I was stunned yesterday when I received a call from your aunt Denise that Karen had passed. Although we had lost touch over the years, Karen was always one of my favorites. Since Karen and I were so close in age I have fond memories of her growing up. One of the last times I saw her was Labor Day weekend before Bernie passed away. It was a great reunion and I am thankful I took pictures and will cherish those memories. I've thought of all of you often over the years but time passes so quickly I never got up to see you. There is now an empty place in my heart. You are in my prayers, I love and miss you, Uncle Rick
