Milo S. Polovina, 81, Bovey, Minn., died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, in his home.
He was born Dec. 27, 1930 in Bovey to Steve and Mildred Polovina.
He was an Army veteran during the Korean War and earned the Silver Star for his valor in laying down protective fire for his trapped platoon. He returned to Bovey where he worked as a mechanic and shovel operator at Hibbing Tac. He retired in 1989 and was a member of the Grand Rapids VFW.
He is survived by his wife Rita; his children Steven (Helen) Polovina of Houston, Texas, Suzanne (Richard) Mosiniak of Duluth, and Joseph Polovina of Bovey; four grandchildren Milo J. Polovina of Grand Rapids, Michael (Jenna) McLean of Duluth, and Stephanie and Kimberly Polovina both of Houston; five great grandchildren Taylor, Brielle, Mylie, Dawson and Brayden and a long-time friend Mary Polovina.
