Theodore "Ted" Josiah Davey, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle lost his courageous battle to cancer on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, is now in the loving arms of his savior, and his deceased loved ones who went before him.
Ted was born in Duluth to Theodore and Hilda Davey on Jan. 13, 1940.
He worked first as a veterinary assistant, then a driver for Allied Cab, more years for Zalk Josephs Mfg. For many years he worked in lawn serice (Davey's Lawn Service) with his brother Gary, next as a teamster, and retired in 1997from the Labors Local 1091 after becoming disabled due to heart problems. In the end of his careers he worked for Chalstroms bait and tackle as long as his health allowed.
His loves were first his family, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin that the entire family built together in 1980.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Hilda; brothers Gary and Tom, all of Duluth and an infant son Cory James in 1970.
Ted is survived by two sons and three daughters, Ted (Beth), Curt ( Tami), Terri, Yvonne (Gene), and Laurrie ( John); 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four brothers Don Dennis, Tim, and Larry; very special brother-in-law Jim Adams of Michigan; mother of his children, Peggy; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; sisters-in-law; and brothers-in-law.
A special thanks to Jacki Hall, Ted's significant other, for the loving, gentle support that she so freely and lovingly provided during this very difficult time of his life. The family also wants to thank all the very caring and supportive staff at the Solvay Hospice House and father Bill of Solvay for Ted's last blessing.
He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his many friends, relatives, and his family.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 12 Noon Friday, Aug. 24, with a visitation at 11 a.m. in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, 624-5200.
