Arlene Swanson, 81, Two Harbors died Sunday July 8, 2012 in Ecumen Scenic Shores, surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 8, 1930 to Arnold and Elva Weideman (Udenberg) in Two Harbors, where she lived for most of her life.

Arlene married Kenneth W. Swanson on July 21, 1949. She started working as a teenager at her mother's restaurant, and later was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Ray Lundgren and at the CHC Clinic until retiring.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was active as: Sunday School teacher, superintendent, wedding chairman for 29 years, sewing club member for 59 years, and President of the ELCA for two years. Also, she was Post President of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Weideman and Elva Gayton; her husband, Kenneth; brother Darrell Weideman; sister ArDella Connor; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Wright.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Swanson of Texas City, Texas; sons, Gregg (Mikiko) Swanson of Sagamihara, Japan, and Bill (Vicki) Swanson of Andover; grandchildren, Natalie Newman, Darren Davidson, Kendra (Chris) Wright, Kara Davidson(Bill Soley), Nathan Swanson, and Audrey Swanson; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Aria, Hope, Dakota, Nathalia, Diego, Cole, Jack and Sophie.

VISITATION: 12 Noon until the 1 p.m. service on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery. To sign the online register book please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
